Past President
List of Duties
1. Advises on past practices of the Corporation and
oversees the operation of IJJA as an Executive Committee
member.
2. Assists with coordination to ICA functions.
3. Vice Chair of the conference committee.
4. May co-sign all checks (with other Executive Officer)
over the amount of $250 authorized by the Board of
Directors.
5. Meets once every (2) months, or as often as deemed
necessary, as part of the Executive Committee.
6. Attends all regular Board meetings, as Board of
Directors' member.
7. Conducts nominations for following year's Board
of Directors:
a. Solicits nominations for Board from membership
(via website and/or newsletter) approximately late
June/early July.
b. Prepares ballots of nominees for each individual
District (with room for write-ins), including a description
of each nominee. BALLOTS ARE DISTRICT-SPECIFIC:, i.e,
Top of ballot lists Executive Board members up for
election (consistent on all ballots) - Bottom portion
lists Representative nominees for that specific District
(see attached example). Ballot return due date is
printed on the bottom of ballot - should be the first
Friday of September.
c. Board of Directors shall approve the 7 District
ballot templates at the last (August) meeting.
d. Ballots shall be copied per individual District
membership, and shall be prepared as follows:
i. Assigned a number and sent to all current members
with a self-addressed, stamped envelope numbered to
correspond with the ballot.
ii. Upon return, ballots shall be initialed, dated,
and left UNOPENED.
e. Ballots shall be counted at conference location
on Sunday evening prior to conference opening. Ballots
are counted by ICA President and one other Board member
of ICA. Results are given to IJJA Past President before
noon on Monday and announced at the IJJA membership
luncheon.
9. Conducts nominations for District Line Worker of
the Year, Administrator of the Year, and John Shuler
Award:
a. Solicits nominations from membership (via website
and/or
newsletter) approximately mid to late June. Nominations
may be mailed, faxed, or emailed to Past President,
but are due by the first Friday of August.
b. Ballots are collected, dated, and separated by
District.
c. Ballots are voted on by the District Representatives
from the District affected at the August IJJA meeting,
i.e., District I nominations will be voted on by District
I Representatives. In the event a Representative is
nominated, the remaining District Representative from
that District shall make the determination. If no
other District Representative exists for that District,
an Executive Board Member shall vote in that Representative's
place.
d. All Board Members shall vote on the John Shuler
award winner.
e. Once winners are determined, Western Trophy and
Engraving in Boise is contacted for preparation of
plaques. Plaques will be awarded at IJJA luncheon
at noon on Monday of the conference.
